Headlight Restoration in Edmonton

Wet sanding, polishing and a fresh UV seal to bring hazy lenses back to clarity.

What headlight restoration does

Headlight lenses are polycarbonate protected by a thin factory UV coating. Once that coating breaks down — and Alberta sun plus winter salt spray accelerates it — the plastic underneath oxidises into a yellow haze that scatters light instead of projecting it. Restoration removes the failed layer and replaces the protection.

Cloudy, yellow or hazy headlights can make your vehicle look older and reduce nighttime visibility. Our headlight restoration service removes oxidation, restores clarity and improves the overall front-end appearance of your vehicle.

Problems this solves in Edmonton

  • Poor light output on unlit Edmonton roads during long winter nights
  • Yellow, foggy lenses making an otherwise clean vehicle look older
  • Sandblasting haze from years of highway gravel and winter sand
  • Store-bought kits that clear the lens for a few months and then haze again

Pricing depends on vehicle size, paint condition and the coverage you choose, so every quote is built per vehicle. Request a quote for exact figures.

Benefits

Improved night-time light output
Clear, near-OEM appearance
Fresh UV sealant applied
Better front-end presentation for resale

Our process

  1. Mask surrounding paint and inspect for internal moisture or cracking

  2. Progressive wet sanding to remove the failed UV layer and oxidation

  3. Machine compounding and polishing to full optical clarity

  4. Solvent wipe and application of a fresh UV-resistant sealant

  5. Cure time and a night-time output check

How long it takes: Usually 1.5 to 3 hours, done same day.

Aftercare

Avoid pressure-washing the lenses directly for the first few days while the sealant hardens. Afterwards, wash them as you would paint and keep abrasive bug-and-tar removers off the surface.

Why it matters here

Edmonton has roughly seven hours of daylight in late December, so most winter driving happens in the dark. A hazed lens scatters the beam rather than projecting it, so restoration is a genuine visibility improvement here, not only a cosmetic one.

Best suited to: Vehicles roughly four years and older with yellowed or hazy lenses, and any vehicle being prepared for sale.

Headlight Restoration FAQs

The lens is polycarbonate with a factory UV coating on the outside. UV exposure, heat cycling, road sand and winter chemicals wear that coating away, and the exposed plastic oxidises. The yellow is the plastic itself, which is why surface cleaners do nothing.
