Pricing Guide
Window Tint Prices in Edmonton: What You're Paying For
Window tint pricing comes down to three things: how many pieces of glass are being covered, how difficult that glass is to fit, and which film goes on it. The gap between a basic dyed film and a nano-ceramic film is the largest single factor, and it is also the difference between film that fades purple in a few seasons and film that keeps rejecting heat for years.
How we quote
VELOKAM Automotive quotes tint per vehicle rather than publishing one price, because glass count and shape differ across sedans, SUVs, trucks and vans. Every quote states which windows are included and which film is being installed, and we only quote glass that Alberta law allows to be tinted.

Film technology
Dyed film is the cheapest and rejects very little infrared heat; nano-ceramic film costs more and blocks a much higher share of heat and UV without any metal layer that interferes with signal.
Number of windows
Rear side glass and the rear windshield on a sedan is a smaller job than an SUV or van with additional cargo and quarter glass.
Glass shape
Steeply curved rear windshields need more heat-shrinking skill and time than flat side glass. Frameless door glass and small quarter windows also add labour.
Old film removal
Stripping failed or bubbled film — especially older film with degraded adhesive on a heated rear window — is a slow job and is quoted separately.
Shade consistency
Matching a new install to existing factory privacy glass so the vehicle looks uniform can require a specific shade selection.
Alberta legal scope
We do not tint the windshield or the driver and front-passenger windows without an approved medical exemption, so quotes cover legally tintable glass only.

Value comparisons
Ceramic vs dyed film
Dyed film darkens glass but rejects little infrared heat, and it fades toward purple within a few seasons. Nano-ceramic film blocks far more infrared and UV, holds its colour, and contains no metal — so it does not interfere with GPS, keyless entry, cellular signal or tire-pressure sensors. Over the life of a vehicle, ceramic is usually the cheaper option because it is installed once.
What a low tint quote usually means
Either an entry-level dyed film, or a shop willing to tint front windows that Alberta does not permit. A ticket and a mandatory removal cost more than the difference between the two quotes.
Tint plus other protection
Tint protects your interior from UV fade; it does nothing for paint. Drivers who park outdoors year-round frequently pair tint with a ceramic coating so both interior and exterior surfaces are covered.
Cost questions we get asked
Why does ceramic tint cost more than regular tint?
The film itself is a more complex product. Nano-ceramic particles reject infrared heat that dyed film simply passes through, and the film holds its colour instead of fading purple. You pay more once instead of paying to strip and redo cheap film later.
Can I get my front windows tinted in Alberta?
No. Alberta's Vehicle Equipment Regulation does not permit tinting material on the windshield or on the driver and front-passenger windows without an approved medical exemption. We quote and install on legally tintable glass only, which protects you from a ticket and a forced removal.
Does an SUV cost more to tint than a sedan?
Usually yes, because there is more glass — extra quarter windows, cargo glass and often a larger rear windshield. Glass count and shape are the labour side of the quote.
How much does removing old tint add?
It depends on the film's condition. Recent film in good shape comes off reasonably quickly; old, bubbled film with degraded adhesive on a heated rear window is slow and careful work. We assess it and quote removal separately so it is transparent.
How do I get an exact tint price?
Tell us your year, make and model and which windows you want covered through the quote form, or call the studio. Because glass count is known per model, tint quotes are usually the quickest we turn around.
